Serbia Zijin Mining Hosts First Community Open Day at Čukaru Peki Mine
Serbia Zijin Mining recently organized its First Community Open Day, welcoming residents from the surrounding villages of Brestovac, Slatina, and Metovnica to visit the Čukaru Peki mine. The event aimed to provide local communities with a firsthand look at the mine’s operations and to demonstrate the company’s commitment to sustainable growth, modern mining practices, and environmental stewardship.
“This visit gives residents the opportunity to see that the modern technology at Čukaru Peki is designed to protect the environment and strive for zero pollution. At Serbia Zijin Mining, safety and health are top priorities, and ecological standards are rigorously applied,” said Zhou Bin, Manager of the CSR Department.
Local community leaders praised the initiative. Dragi Corbolović, Deputy President of the Brestovac Local Community Council, said the visit reinforced the trust residents have in the company. “They truly act as good neighbors, always ready to help and share in our successes,” he noted.
Vojkan Pavlović, President of the Slatina Local Community Council, added, “It was impressive to see and learn about new ore processing methods. In just four years, such a large complex has been built that prioritizes ecology and integrates abundant greenery — the experience was truly eye-opening.”
Dejan Marković, President of the Metovnica Local Community Council, highlighted the company’s ongoing support for local development, including the construction of the village’s Water Supply System funded by Serbia Zijin Mining. “The company invests continuously in our village, and today we had the chance to learn more about the mine’s operations, which many locals had not seen before,” Marković said.
The Community Open Day reflects Serbia Zijin Mining’s commitment to transparency, sustainable development, and close cooperation with the communities where it operates, fostering trust, knowledge, and shared progress.
